A Celebration of Youth, Community, and Northern Sport
The gym at Weledeh School was filled with excitement, bright energy, and the unmistakable sound of Table Tennis rallies as nearly one hundred youth from across the Northwest Territories came together for the 2025 NWT School Table Tennis Championships. With five school boards represented this year, the event grew once again, becoming one of the largest and most vibrant school table tennis gatherings the NWT has ever seen.
A Day Full of Skill, Heart, and Community Spirit
From the very first serve, it was clear that this championship was about more than competition. Athletes cheered for each other from the sidelines, shared high fives during matches, and showed incredible sportsmanship in every age category. What made this year truly special was the level of responsibility and leadership shown by the youth themselves. Every match was umpired and officiated by students, building confidence, discipline, and a sense of ownership over the event.
The atmosphere was electric. Rallies were fast and fearless. Supporters filled the gym with encouragement. And the sense of community was unmistakable.
Capturing the Moment, Youth Behind the Lens
This year, our Youth Photographer Program was out in full force, documenting the excitement and emotion of each match. Their images reflect not only athleticism, but friendship, courage, and the simple joy of showing up and doing your best. The storytelling from these young photographers continues to be a fan favourite and an important part of our championships.

Gratitude to Those Who Make It Possible
Events like this thrive because of the people who stand behind them.
A huge thank you to Table Tennis North for their ongoing support and leadership in developing the sport across the territory. Thank you to our incredible volunteers, who showed up with enthusiasm and ensured the day ran smoothly. And a special thank you to Jose and Weledeh School for welcoming us into the facility and helping create a positive environment for every athlete.
Looking Ahead, Arctic Winter Games and Beyond
For many of the youth who competed, this championship marks the beginning of an exciting journey. As we head toward the Arctic Winter Games and Canada Winter Games, we are thrilled to see the next generation of Table Tennis athletes stepping forward with talent, discipline, and pride. Several participants from this event will soon attend trials, and the future of table tennis in the NWT looks incredibly bright.
A Favourite Event for a Reason
The 2025 NWT School Table Tennis Championships showcased everything we love about school sport. Joy, effort, community, teamwork, and youth lifting each other up. It is an event we look forward to every year, and this year reminded us why.
Same tables. Same gym.
New champions. New stories.
And a spirit of Northern sport that keeps getting stronger.
