Thanks to Canadian Women & Sport, we are offering two $500 grants to support student led projects that empower girls and young women through sport and movement. These initiatives should promote inclusion, leadership, body confidence, or participation in school-based physical activity or sport.
Who Can Apply
- Students or student teams in NWT schools (grades 7–12 preferred)
- Must have a teacher or community mentor supporting the project
- Projects must be focused on girls and young women
Projects should be student-designed, but here are some ideas to inspire:
- A school-based campaign about body confidence in sport
- A girls-only activity club (lunch-time yoga, dodgeball, dance)
- A mentorship program connecting older and younger girls in sport
- A photo or art exhibit on what sport means to girls in your school
- An inclusive sportswear initiative (design, education, or access)
- A “Train Like a Girl” challenge week to promote strength and skill
What the $500 Can Be Used For
- Equipment, printing, space rental, snacks, small incentives or prizes
- Guest speaker or facilitator fees
- Supplies for campaign or artwork
- Honorarium for mentors or volunteers
- Pizza lunch 🙂

Deadline to apply: January 31, 2026
Projects must be completed by: June 21, 2026
