Hay River welcomed 28 teams across six divisions for the 2026 Aurora Ford Outdoor Soccer Tournament. Athletes from communities across the Northwest Territories filled the fields with competition, teamwork and great sportsmanship.
For Stefan Burgener, the new Executive Director of NT School Sports, it was his first event in the role. “It was wonderful to meet the Hay River organizers, coaches and athletes at my first NT School Sports event. I enjoyed helping out, watching the soccer and seeing the positive atmosphere everyone created. One of my favourite moments was getting onto the field to play with the Grade 4/5 athletes,” said Stefan.
Congratulations to the top teams in each division:
- Grade 4/5 coed: 1st JBT, 2nd PA Yellow, 3rd PA Blue
- Grade 6/7 coed: 1st PA Blue, 2nd PA Yellow
- Junior boys: 1st St. Pat’s Green, 2nd Sir John Franklin
- Junior girls: 1st Sir John Franklin, 2nd DJSS
- Senior boys: 1st St. Pat’s White, 2nd Sir John Franklin
- Senior girls: 1st Sir John Franklin, 2nd St. Pat’s
NT School Sports and the Hay River organizing team thank every athlete, coach, chaperone, volunteer, official and supporter who helped make the tournament possible. We know how much planning, travel and time away from home goes into an event like this. The welcoming atmosphere you created made the weekend special.
