We’re starting the 2025–2026 school year with more than just a new calendar, we’re entering a new chapter for NT School Sports. One that reflects who we are, where we come from, and where we’re going together.
Over the past months, we’ve been working behind the scenes to update not just what we do, but how we present it. The result? A brand-new website, a vibrant new logo, and a clearer, more collaborative approach to delivering school sport across the Northwest Territories.
A Logo That Tells Our Story
You might have already seen our new logo, it’s bold, colourful, and full of motion. But it’s more than just a design.
Each part of the logo tells a story:
• The green waves represent the Northern Lights, dancing across the sky.
• The blue base symbolizes the waters that flow through the North, our rivers, lakes, and land based connections.
• The circle has deep cultural and spiritual meaning, representing wholeness, community, and inclusion. But it’s open too, inviting others to join, to participate, and to belong.
• And at the heart of it all is a figure in motion, reaching for a guiding star, a symbol of our youth, striving for growth, joy, and possibility through sport.
• Fun fact, each sport has their own logo.
Each of our sports has its own version of the logo, with the central figure customized to reflect the sport it represents. Whether it’s Table Tennis, Hockey, Volleyball, or Cross Country Running, you’ll see athletes in action, all connected by the same Northern spirit. It’s one identity, with many unique expressions, just like our athletes. This logo is a reflection of us, rooted in the North, driven by purpose, and always reaching toward something greater.
A Website Built For You
We also launched a new website: www.ntssa.ca. It’s designed to make life easier for students, teachers, coaches, and organizers. Whether you’re looking for event info, governance documents, board members, or forms, it’s all in one place.
We’ve made space to share updates, launch campaigns, and highlight the incredible people that make up this community. So bookmark it, check in often, and don’t forget to follow us on social:

The 2025–2026 Calendar Is Here!
Our calendar for the year is packed with opportunities to connect, compete, and grow. From track meets to table tennis, Super Soccer to Cager, these events aren’t just about sport, they’re about belonging, challenge, and pride. Here’s what’s ahead: https://ntssa.ca/calendar/
And remember, there’s a NEW Liability Waiver required for all participants, please make sure students and teachers complete it before each event.
A Stronger Way to Work Together
This year, we’re also excited to roll out our tiered sanctioning system, a collaborative model that helps clarify responsibilities and support for events. By working closely with Territorial Sport Organizations, schools, and communities, we can deliver high-quality experiences across the board. Everyone knows their role. Everyone pulls together.
Sport is the core, but our work goes beyond that. This Fall, we’ll be launching a series of campaigns to engage students, celebrate teachers, and amplify the energy of youth across the NWT. There will be stories. There will be challenges. There will be smiles and surprises. And most of all, there will be purpose.
At the helm is our Executive Director, Andrew Gilmour, a familiar face to many in the North. Andrew brings a steady hand, a passion for community, and a clear vision for making school sport not just accessible, but meaningful.
“We have a lot of new things in motion, our registration system, our logo, our governance, and our hope to make a larger impact in all of the communities,” Andrew says. “I’m excited to see how it all rolls out and what feedback we get. I believe we are making great changes, and we can only do that with everyone’s voice.”
So here we are. New logo, new website, full calendar, stronger partnerships, and a renewed vision. But the heart of NT School Sports hasn’t changed. It’s still about young people, community spirit, and the joy of moving together. Visit www.ntssa.ca, check the calendar, follow our socials, and be part of what’s next.
We’re ready. Let’s go.
