Every Child Deserves to Belong — On and Off the Field/Pitch/Ice/Court/Pool

At the heart of NT School Sports is a simple but powerful belief: every student deserves the chance to participate, learn, and thrive. School sport is not just competition, it’s connection, belonging, and opportunity.

Through our championships, clinics, and leadership programs, NT School Sports helps students experience teamwork, perseverance, and joy in movement. We see firsthand how school sport can change lives: it builds friendships, creates leaders, and strengthens community spirit from Inuvik to Fort Smith.

On September 30th, as we wear orange, we pause to honour the experiences of Indigenous children and their families. This day is more than remembrance; it is a call to action. It reminds us to keep building programs and policies that protect, include, and empower youth across the Northwest Territories.

We strongly believe that school sport is a bridge. It brings students from different backgrounds together, it breaks down barriers, and it creates moments of shared pride. Today, we recommit to making sure that every school aged child in the NWT feels welcome, supported, and safe when they step onto a field, court, or trail. Their dreams matter, and together we can help them grow.
