The countdown is on for one of the North’s most exciting school sport events, the 16th Annual Lawrie Hobart Memorial Volleyball Tournament, taking place October 16–19, 2025 in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories.
Co-hosted by PWK High School and Joseph B. Tyrrell Elementary School, this beloved tournament brings together youth from across the North to compete in an atmosphere of respect, community, and fun.
Tournament Highlights:
- Dates: October 16–19, 2025
- Categories: 19U, 15U, Grade 7/8, and Grade 5/6 (based on age/grade as of December 31, 2024)
- Venues: PWK High School, JBT Elementary, FS Recreation Centre
- Format: Round Robin play, with finals on Sunday
- Registration Fee: $500 per team (includes 3 breakfasts & 2 suppers for all billeted players, coaches & chaperones)
- Room Damage Deposit: $300 (refundable)
- Meals Included: Friday breakfast & supper, Saturday breakfast & supper, Sunday breakfast
- Fun Extras:
- All players receive a tournament T-shirt
- MVP & Fair Play awards for each category
- Glow-in-the-dark open gym game
Schedule Notes:
The tournament begins Thursday evening, so travelling teams are expected to arrive by Thursday night. Finals will wrap up by Sunday afternoon to allow for travel.
