Wow, what a year it has been, and only our second year as an organization.
NT School Sports has continued to grow into its identity, and 2025 marked an important step forward. The launch of our new brand brought a wave of positive feedback from schools, athletes, and communities across the territory. At the same time, we love the diversity within our identity, with each sport proudly represented through its own logo and personality.
One of the most exciting developments this year was the launch of our Youth Photography Program. Seeing young people step up, take initiative, and confidently tell the story of school sport through their own lens has been inspiring. Their work has not only highlighted our events but has also empowered youth to find their voice and contribute meaningfully to their communities. We are incredibly proud of them.
Behind the scenes, important work has continued to strengthen the foundation of NT School Sports. We have been working closely on governance and Safe Sport, in collaboration with Sport and Law, to ensure our bylaws and policies are solid, current, and athlete focused. This work matters, and it reflects our commitment to creating environments where young people feel safe, supported, and respected.
We have also focused on enhancing the overall event experience. From small gestures like welcome treats for out of town athletes who are billeting, to creating spaces like the Kindness Wall where positive messages are shared and celebrated, these details help shape memories that last far beyond the final whistle. And our Fair Play Pledge videos that highlight the importance of sportsmanship. Our social media presence has continued to grow, allowing us to engage athletes, families, and schools in new and meaningful ways.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Andrew, whose leadership consistently brings people together. His positivity, care, and commitment to youth ensure that athletes are supported in becoming the best version of themselves, both on and off the court. Thank you as well to all of our whips, who show up event after event, ensuring venues are ready, billeting runs smoothly, and athletes are safe and supported.
We are deeply grateful to our Board of Directors for providing steady guidance, believing in new ideas, supporting initiatives, and helping build an organization that truly makes a difference for school sport in the Northwest Territories.
As the year comes to a close, we want to thank every athlete, coach, volunteer, teacher, official, and partner who has been part of this journey. Together, you make NT School Sports what it is.
Happy Holidays, and thank you for an incredible year.
