As we step into a new year, we do so with gratitude for what has been built and excitement for what lies ahead.
NT School Sports continues to grow with intention. In the year ahead, we are committed to continuing to enhance the event experience for athletes, coaches, officials, and schools across the Northwest Territories. From thoughtful details that support out of town teams, to creating welcoming environments that celebrate effort, respect, and belonging, our goal remains the same, to make every event a positive and meaningful experience for young people.
We will also continue strengthening our governance structures, building on the important Safe Sport work already underway. Clear policies, strong bylaws, and shared accountability are essential to creating environments where athletes feel protected, heard, and supported. This work may not always be visible, but it is foundational to the trust placed in us by schools, families, and communities.
Looking ahead, we are excited to launch more campaigns that centre youth voice. We believe young people are not just participants in school sport, they are leaders, storytellers, and changemakers. This year, we want to create more opportunities for youth to share their messages, highlight what sport means to them, and shape the culture of school sport across the territory.
As we begin this new year, we thank everyone who continues to walk alongside NT School Sports, athletes, coaches, teachers, volunteers, officials, whips, board members, and community partners. Together, we are building something that goes beyond competition, a culture rooted in care, respect, and opportunity.
Here’s to a new year of connection, growth, and shared purpose.
