NT School Sports is proud to support Canadian Women & Sport’s national campaign Get Girl Coached, which challenges coaches, administrators, and communities to create sport environments that are truly built for girls.
We know that half of Canadian girls stop participating in sport by age 17, missing out on the physical, mental, and social benefits of movement. Together, we can change that.
At the heart of the campaign is KeepGirlsPlaying.ca, a resource hub with free tools, guides, and real stories from girls. It’s a place where sport leaders at every level can learn how to listen to girls, respond to their needs, and help them thrive.
What Can We Do?
Coach for Her
Create safe, inclusive environments and be open to feedback about how girls want to be coached.
Design for Her
Build programs and systems that reflect girls’ lived experiences, interests, and identities.
Invest in Her
Support mentorship, leadership pathways, and equitable access to sport.
From lunch time sport clubs and girls only game days to mentorship, art campaigns, and inclusive uniforms, there are so many ways schools can be part of this movement.
In the Northwest Territories, we are excited to continue developing opportunities that keep girls playing, leading, and belonging through school sport. Whether you’re a student, teacher, or community leader, we encourage you to explore the tools and join us in building a stronger, more inclusive future for sport.
