Passing the Light Forward – St. Pat’s Volunteer Coaches at Spike It Junior

Every event shines a little brighter when youth step up to lead. At this weekend’s Spike It Junior Volleyball Tournament, three young leaders from St. Patrick High School, Alex Mackay, Syesha Bandong, and Christy Ndoro, did just that.

Between the cheers, rallies, and high fives, they were the ones helping younger athletes find their rhythm, encouraging them after a missed serve, and celebrating every small win. Their calm guidance and positive energy reminded everyone that sport is not just about points, but about people.

Volunteering as coaches takes heart. It means showing up not only to teach the game, but to model teamwork, confidence, and kindness. It’s about believing that the best way to grow your own light is to pass it on, to lift others, inspire them, and lead by example.

Next week, Alex, Syesha, and Christy will switch roles and take to the court themselves at the Spike It Senior event. But for this weekend, they were the ones lighting the way for the next generation of players.

Thank you for sharing your time, energy, and spirit, our community is stronger because of leaders like you.
