As teams prepare to compete in the 2026 Sr. Cager Basketball Tournament from February 26 to March 1, creating a safe and positive environment remains the top priority for everyone involved. Working closely with school leadership, the NWT School Sports Association, and the RCMP, additional safety measures have been put in place across all venues to support athletes, coaches, and spectators throughout the event.
These measures include increased security presence, enhanced supervision, controlled access points, and identification protocols for athletes. While these steps are important, what truly defines this tournament is the shared commitment of the community to look out for one another, respect the space, and support a positive experience for all.
Sr. Cager continues to be more than just basketball. It is an opportunity for students from across the Northwest Territories to come together, compete with pride, and represent their schools and communities. With safety, respect, and teamwork at the forefront, the tournament promises to be a meaningful and memorable experience for everyone involved.
