Do you have students or teams traveling for sport events this year? There are funding supports available to help make participation possible. Whether it’s a territorial championship, regional qualifier, or a development opportunity, travel shouldn’t be a barrier. The Mackenzie Recreation Association (MRA) and KidSport NWT both offer grant programs designed to help offset costs and increase access.

MRA – Mackenzie Recreation Association

The MRA offers funding to residents of Mackenzie Region communities for:

• Transportation
• Accommodations
• Registration fees
• Professional development for coaches and recreation leaders

Youth can apply for up to $3,000 per event. Apply at least two weeks before your event date. Learn more or apply: https://mranwt.ca/funding-overview

KidSport NWT – Individual Grants

KidSport NWT provides up to $500 per child, per year to help cover:

• Sport registration fees
• Personal equipment costs

Applications are open year-round and processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Travel to competitions is not eligible, but equipment and program access are! Apply here: https://kidsportcanada.ca/northwest-territories/territorial-fund/
